A Look at the Status of Forensic Science in the United States
In 2009, the National Academy of Science released its landmark report, "Strengthening Forensic Science in the United States: A Look Forward".
The report outlines a number of recommendations for the delivery of forensic services to the criminal justice community.
In 2006, three years prior to the NAS report, the members of the International Association of Chiefs of Police supported a resolution by their Forensics Committee. That resolution recognized the increasingly important role of forensic science and evidence in the criminal justice system.
